It has been a long but enjoyable weekend. Long, because I was mostly busy and did not get much sleep; enjoyable, because I had lots of fun. What better time to learn something new?
So, here’s what I learned this weekend:
Being someone who is not a stranger to picking up the slack, this is the last thing I would consider good news. Still, a leader cannot just walk away when a situation is messy; more often than not, you have to clean up the mess, even if you did not create it.
The way I see it, there are two ways to make sure you have less mess to deal with:
- Plan ahead, and plan properly. Because planning ahead does not always mean proper planning, it cannot by itself always guarantee a no-mess situation. Proper planning is what makes all the work that you put into planning ahead well worth it.
- Just say no. Simply put, there will be no mess for you to clean up if you do not get directly involved. If you do not have to get involved, always remember that you can just say no.
